The Avon Workforce Academy is recruiting its second cohort of workforcees. The programme is designed to bring committed coaches, officials and volunteers together to increase the number of Badminton opportunities locally and help towards retaining and increasing Badminton England members. The Workforce Academy will provide support, training, mentoring and CPD, in return for delivering more Badminton activity, creating an accessible and sustainable workforce across the county. Racket Skills Course
Wednesday 23rd January 2019, Powells School, Gloucester Street, Cirencester, GL7 2DJ. Please, click to see the flyer to book onto the course.
The racket skills course is a free course aiming to show teachers and coaches the best and most effective way to introduce racket sports to beginners. It also deals with the huge problem for teachers of introducing and teaching a racket sport in a small hall to large numbers safely and successfully.
The course is extremely "hands on". About 50% of the course features slow-moving plusballs ( but other missiles are also used, such as fleece balls, reaction balls and drastically adapted slow shuttlecocks. Roger Stroud, who delivers the racket skills sessions is extremely experienced having delivered many similar courses in universities, colleges, leisure centres and schools all over the country and written a book on the subject 'Racket Skills for Beginners - Twenty Lesson Plans'.
